Celebration Commenced by the Multi-million Lamborghini Super Sports Cars Parade
The series of breathtaking events were kick-started by the parade of Lamborghini super sports cars in the morning. This greatest Lamborghini parade in Hong Kong showcased a line-up of over 30 Lamborghini super sports cars together with a life-sized cow sculpture. The one-hour parade took its start from the Star Ferry Pier in Central and travelled along major roads on Hong Kong Island, creating a spectacular scene. People hoping to see the supreme sports cars and camera flashes filled the route to the Opening Ceremony at Stanley Plaza.
Design of International Superstar and Top Artists for CowParade Debut in Hong Kong
The campaign presents the unprecedented crossover between Lamborghini and CowParade. Design theme based on brand value of Lamborghini - Extreme, Italian, Uncompromising - five reputable parties, including international superstar, talented singer and actor Aaron Kwok; Mankey, Japanese designer from the fashion label A BATHING APE®; Italian floral artist Emilio Robba; Billy the Artist, a contemporary artist from New York; and Lamborghini HK Team; paint a life-sized cow sculpture each (please see Appendix 2 for the creative concept of each of their design) and their creations are matched to Lamborghinis with the same design pattern. The pairs debuted on today's Opening Ceremony will continued to be displayed in the exhibition held between 28 April and 19 May (display of painted Lamborghinis only on weekends.) Hong Kong citizens are the first to take a close look at these masterpieces. After the celebration in Hong Kong, the 5 life-sized cow sculptures will be displayed in travelling exhibitions around major cities in China as the highlight of CowParade Shanghai and Taiwan in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
The CowParade annual event originated from Switzerland invites artists to design their own cows on fibreglass sculptures of cows. The cow sculptures are exhibited in major world cities and auctioned off for charity causes. To perpetuate the tradition of CowParade, the life-sized cow sculpture auction debuted in Hong Kong and was staged immediately after the Opening Ceremony. The five designing parties shared with us the creative concepts behind their creation at the Ceremony. For example, “Acted at Heart” created by Aaron Kwok is a reflection of his determination to be extraordinary and perfect on stage, as well as his relentless professionalism. They also encouraged guests to bid for charity, drawing fierce bidding for the 5 specially designed life-sized cow sculptures. Thanks to the overwhelming response, the auction has brought a total of HK$821,000 for the campaign. Among the sculptures, “Acted at Heart” was sold at 10 times of its reserve price has become one of the top ten most expensive life-sized cow sculptures CowParade has ever sold since 1999. As he likes his creation very much, Mr. Aaron Kwok was so kind that he purchased the “Acted at Heart” bid by Lamborghini Hong Kong under “Aaron Kwok Love and Concern International Charity Fund Ltd.” Winners of the auction are satisfied with the artistic value and the charity nature of their sculptures.
